Ancestor Search

Discover the identity of your previously unknown ancestor(s).

Ancestory search

Are you trying to identify the origin, parentage, or siblings of a distant ancestor?

If you have come to a dead end on a specific line of your ancestry, also known as a genealogy brick wall, Heritage Kinnections can help you get around that brick wall, or even break it down completely. We use a combination of genetic testing, traditional paper trail genealogy, and general investigative work to narrow down potential targets our clients are searching for.

These types of investigations can eat up a lot of hours very quickly. It is not an understatement to say that these searches are a time sink with the number of hours ranging anywhere from 10 to 100 hours depending on what the client wants. Ray goes the extra mile to ensure that his clients receive the best possible treatment and results, while only going as far as the client wishes him to.

Our approach

If you are ready to take the step of hiring a professional to conduct a search on your behalf, please feel free to reach out to Heritage Kinnections either by the forms provided, or by phone call, email, or text.

The initial consultation requires no further commitment from you; it is simply to gauge how best to proceed for both the client and the person conducting the search.

Our process

We use Genetic Genealogy to conduct our searches. It is the combination of DNA testing with general family history research (paper trail records).

Paper trail records encompass a wide array of documents which can include anything from Birth Certificates, Census records, and Newspaper articles to Wills, Property Deeds, and Tax records.

Although we have done genealogical work without DNA testing in the past and would consider doing it without on a case-by-case basis we largely do research now with genetic testing as it is our specialty.

All you need to do is share those results with us (preferably AncestryDNA) so we can perform our work. If you have questions about DNA testing in general or need assistance setting up an account to take a DNA test and then share those results, we are happy to help walk you through this process.

Once we get access to those results, we diligently and painstakingly comb through the client’s DNA match list while also using genetic research tools such as ethnicity results, clustering, and chromosome browsers.

Pricing

Each case is unique and must be assessed on an individual basis. A flat rate, an hourly rate, or a combination of the two will be used depending on the needs of the client. To begin work, a specific flat price is normally used which guarantees a specific number of hours dedicated to the research. After the initial hours are used up, we will reassess with the client and any additional hours added to the research, if any, will run at $50 per hour.
